Helping with the Financial Crisis
The Mission and Ministry Committee met this week and discussed practical ways we, as a church, can support people in financial need. It was proposed that we start a drop in café once a week for people to come and have a warm bowl of soup and a bread roll plus a cup of tea or coffee or dink of juice. We’d like to start this project as the children go back to school in September. We will have to finalise the details, But: -Could you help to serve the soup/tea/coffee? Could you greet people and chat to them or make soup once in a while? Could you pray for people who find themselves in difficult circumstances? Please chat to Mark, Rebecca or Sally-Anne if you’d like to find out more or would like to help.

Do you live alone?

Eating alone is difficult so we were wondering about getting people together once in a while. Would you like to go out for a meal once a month with others who live on their own? Possibly early evening – we could arrange car sharing. Not an expensive meal but time to spend with others. Contact Sally-Anne if you’re interested and we’ll sort out some details.

 Hearts Needed!
Grantham Hospital are in need of ‘comfort hearts'. The hearts can be knitted, crochet, embroidered, fabric or felt. They need to be in matching pairs - one for the patient and one for the patient's family - to help them feel connected. Send the hearts to Grantham Hospital, 101 Manthorpe Road, Grantham NG31 8DG or give them to Rev Heather.

 Budgeting
Is sorting out your money becoming incresingly difficult with all the price rises?
Some members of our congregation have completed a money training course which helps with budgeting so that you know how mcuh money you have coming in and can plan ahead.
The first course has already been held and if there is interest a second course can be run.
Please talk to either Rev Mark or Rev Rebecca if you are interested.

Project in the Precinct
Our brothers and sisters at New Life Church have opened the new youth resource in the Precinct which is called “Mosaic”All the churches within Churches Together in Sleaford and District have been invited to support this very important resource. Regular activities will start again in September when the young people return to school.  The New Life team would welcome our support.  If you would like to help and could be available regularly weekly or fortnightly please contact the New Life Church office on 01529 413603 or by email on

 Churches Together in Sleaford
As part of our own church’s mission planning, the PCC decided it would support some of the mission work planned for the Precinct in the town centre. As you know this is a project led by New Life Church, operating as part of Churches Together in Sleaford. The initiatives are beginning to take shape. The Community Grocery Shop opened last week with two paid staff and a number of volunteers. They need more volunteers, so if you could help, please go in, have a look around and have a chat with the team. The next project to come on-line is the Mosaic Youth initiative which aims to provide a safe place for teenagers to meet after school and as a base for the town’s youth work. The team hope to open in September. If you would like to find out more, please have a chat with Mark or Rebecca or contact Paul Tricker, the Youth Leader by email paul.tricker@nlcm.org.uk
A message from Paul: - "The team are also trying to raise money for equipment and furniture that we will need for the Youth – if you are able to spread the word, that would be really helpful. People can give here https://www.gofundme.com/f/mosaic-youth-hub"If you would be able to help with either of these projects, then let Mark or Rebecca know. Other initiatives will come on line and we will keep you updated.

Night Life Cafe
The Acts Trust together with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust, have set up Night Light cafes in different churches in Lincoln and would like to expand the service into the towns of Lincolnshire. One will be starting in Sleaford based at the Source Cafe in Southgate in the autumn for two days per week,.
The cafes are hosted by teams of trained volunteers who provide a warm welcome in a peaceful environment, offering a listening ear to those who come. This is a non-clinical, out of hours, support service for people who are at risk of experiencing a crisis in their mental health.
If you are interested in helping out as a volunteer or would like further information, please speak to Robert Bushby Tel 01529 304518 email randkbushby@aol.com
There is also an opportunity for a 10 hour paid co-ordinator for the local cafe.
